Pathways to Queensland State Nomination

Queensland offers multiple pathways to state nomination based on a skilled worker’s experience, qualifications, and work history. These pathways vary depending on whether the applicant is already in Queensland or applying from overseas.

  • Living and Working in Queensland: Skilled workers currently residing and working in Queensland are prioritized for state nomination, particularly in occupations facing critical shortages.
  • Living Outside Australia: Skilled workers living overseas can also apply if their occupation is listed on Queensland’s Offshore Skilled Occupation List. This list is regularly updated to reflect labor market demands, so it’s essential to stay informed.

Important Eligibility Criteria

To apply for Queensland’s state nomination, it is crucial to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Subclass 190 Restrictions: If you are currently holding a Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa (Subclass 491)or Skilled Regional Provisional Visa (Subclass 489), you are not eligible for nomination under the Subclass 190 visa.
  • Regional Postcodes: Different regional postcodes apply when being granted a Subclass 491 or 489 visa. It is important to check the latest guidelines and updates to confirm your eligibility for state nomination.
  • Occupation Restrictions: Not all occupations are eligible for Subclass 190 nomination. For instance, certain occupations are excluded from Queensland’s state nomination criteria.

Make sure to verify whether your occupation qualifies before proceeding with the application.

Licensing Requirements

Before applying, it is essential to verify whether your occupation in Queensland has specific licensing requirements. Many trades and professions require licensure to practice legally in Queensland. Therefore, skilled workers must ensure they meet all relevant eligibility requirements before lodging their applications.
