Eligibility Criteria for the Subclass 887 Visa
To qualify for this visa, you must:
- Hold an eligible visa or have held one that expired outside Australia during the concession period.
- Have lived in a regional area for at least two years.
- Have worked full-time (35+ hours per week) for at least one year in a designated regional area, unless COVID-19 concessions apply.
- Have complied with visa conditions of your previous eligible visa.
- Be proficient in English (or pay the second installment if you have less than Functional English).
- Meet health and character requirements set by the Australian Government.

- Clear any outstanding debts to the Australian Government.
Application Process & Processing Time
Where to Apply:
- If you lodged your application before September 19, 2020, you must be inside Australia at the time of visa grant.
- If you applied on or after September 19, 2020, you can be inside or outside Australia (but not in immigration clearance) when the visa decision is made.
Processing Times:
- 75% of applications: Processed within 10 months.
- 90% of applications: Processed within 15 months.
- Applications submitted before September 2020 are currently being processed.
- Processing is done case by case and depends on individual circumstances.
