Student Visa for Australia
It all begins with your decision to pursue your studies in Australia, a world-class education hub offering excellent academic and career opportunities.
Step 1: Choose Your Path
- Select your course based on your academic and career aspirations.
- Decide your preferred state and educational institution (college/university).
Step 2: Apply for Admission
Admission into top Australian institutes can be competitive. To secure your spot, timely and well-prepared applications are essential.
Step 3: Apply for a Student Visa (Subclass 500)
The Student Visa (Subclass 500) allows you to:
- Study full-time at an accredited Australian institution.
- Work part-time (up to 40 hours per fortnight) during academic sessions and full-time during study breaks.
- Travel freely in and out of Australia during your visa validity.
The duration of the visa aligns with your course period, plus an additional two months. For younger students in Years 1-4, a visa is typically granted for up to 3 years.
If you need more time to complete your course, you can apply for a Student Visa Extension. Additionally, you may apply for other visa types while holding a student visa.

Including Family Members in Your Application
You can include your family members (spouse, children) in your student visa application. It is mandatory to declare all family members, even if they don’t plan to join you immediately.
If family circumstances change (e.g., marriage, childbirth) after applying, you must promptly inform the Department of Home Affairs.
